2023 report

2023 results - HUMAN DNA SAMPLING

During the 2023 campaign, we targeted the capture of human DNA from samples where other methods fail, because it allowed us to find the very rare human molecules (e.g. less than 1 per million). Nobody else has done this from archaeological sediments.

This allows us to get human DNA [homo sapiens sapiens], [homo sapiens sapiens] or even older human species [homo sapiens neandertalensis] if living in the area of Agios Petros from samples where other methods fail, because it allows us to find the very rare human molecules.

Next, we shall try to do the same by getting cores from marine sediments and look for ancient human DNA.
